White Sox Sign Reliever
The Chicago White Sox have signed Jhan Marinez to a minor league contract.
Marinez last pitched at the major league during the 2018 season with the Baltimore Orioles. In eight appearances, he had a 0-0 record, 5.63 ERA, and three strikeouts. Since then, he has primarily played internationally, but he is now ready to try to make a major league comeback.
Marinez has a lot of overall experience, so that could help his case to make Chicago's roster. In 103 appearances between the Florida Marlins, White Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, and Orioles, he has a 1-5 record, 3.56 ERA, and 102 strikeouts. Overall, he has plenty of strong moments in the bigs, so perhaps he can get back into them.
Overall, there is no harm in the White Sox adding to their pitching depth. It doesn't hurt that he is a familiar face to the organization, too.
