White Sox and Phillies Swing Trade

With the short-term hip pointer injury to Andrew Vaughn, the Chicago White Sox have reached a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies to acquire 26-year-old outfielder Adam Haseley for some depth.

The left-handed hitter has spent parts of three seasons with the Phillies, but hasn't really been able to get his footing in the majors as of yet. In 322 total at-bats since 2019, Haseley is averaging .264 with a .695 OPS.

The move flies in the face of comments from manager Tony La Russa just a day before, when he claimed that they already have enough depth in-house.

Vaughn is expected to only miss one to two weeks with the hip pointer.

But La Russa took issue with fans who started pushing for the Sox to go out and get free agent outfielder Michael Conforto. “Those are probably the fans who are not White Sox fans,” La Russa said. “White Sox fans know there are guys in this camp who can handle it.

The White Sox front office, however, had a differing opinion to La Russa, and acquired Haseley today.
