Washington Nationals Sign Veteran Pitcher
The Washington Nationals are staying busy, as they have signed Erasmo Ramirez to a minor league contract. He also will be attending Spring Training with the major league team.
Ramirez has made appearances in the majors in each of the last 10 seasons, so there's no question that he will get consideration from the Nationals. This is especially true when noting that the team had a lot of issues with their pitching last season. In 17 appearances last season with the Detroit Tigers, he had a 1-1 record, 5.74 ERA, and 20 strikeouts.
Ramirez has the ability to be a starter and reliever, too. In 216 career appearances, with 92 of them being starts, he has a 33-40 record, 4.37 ERA, and 526 strikeouts. He is also a bit of a journeyman, as he had stints with the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and Tigers. Now, he will be adding the Nationals to the mix.
Overall, it's clear that the Nationals are looking for pitching help, so don't be surprised to see them land more from here.
