Texas Rangers Sign Veteran Reliever
The Texas Rangers are continuing to stay busy, as they have signed Brandon Workman to a minor league contract.
Although Workman has received a minor league deal, it is very likely that the Rangers will consider him for the major league squad. He has pitched in the majors over each of the last five seasons and seven in total. The 2021 campaign was a hard one for him, however, as he had a 1-2 record, 5.46 ERA, and 25 strikeouts in 29 appearances between the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox.
The past two seasons have been rough for Workman, but one shouldn't gloss over the success he had with the Red Sox in 2019. In 73 appearances, he had a 10-1 record to go along with a very impressive 1.88 ERA. During the two campaigns before, he also was extremely reliable as well. With this, the Rangers are banking on the possibility of him finding his old form.
In 238 career appearances between the Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cubs, Workman has a 26-22 record, 4.02 ERA, and 343 strikeouts.
