Texas Rangers Sign Infielder
The Texas Rangers are continuing to add to their roster, as they have signed Brad Miller to a major league contract.
Miller will provide the Rangers with a lot of overall versatility, as he is capable of playing shortstop, second base, and first base. This should help the 32-year-old find a spot in their lineup fairly easily. This is especially true if he can continue to have success at the plate.
In 140 games this past season with the Philadelphia Phillies, he had 20 home runs, 49 RBIs, and a .227 batting average. Although he did have some trouble hitting for contact, it's clear that he is also capable of being a power threat. He also had 30 home runs with the Tampa Bay Rays back in 2016.
In 947 games between the Seattle Mariners, Rays, Cleveland, St. Louis Cardinals, and Phillies, Miller has 115 home runs, 367 RBIs, and a .239 batting average. It will be interesting to see how he builds on these numbers with Texas.
