Red Sox Sign Reliever
The Boston Red Sox have signed Matt Strahm to a one-year, $3 million contract.
Strahm appeared in six games with the San Diego Padres this season, where he recorded a 0-1 record and 8.10 ERA. The 30-year-old dealt with multiple knee injuries during the campaign, so that unfortunately sidelined him for much of 2021. However, he will now be looking to change that with the Red Sox this campaign.
In the past, Strahm has been a very dependable reliever. For example, during the 2018 season, he sported a 2.05 ERA in 41 appearances with San Diego. During his full career, he has a 13-24 record, 3.81 ERA, and 273 strikeouts in 157 games between the Kansas City Royals and Padres.
If Strahm can find the form he had even during the 2020 season, the Red Sox could have themselves a nice value addition in him. Yet, let's see if the veteran can stay healthy from here.
