Rangers Sign Veteran Pitcher

The Texas Rangers have signed Matt Moore to a minor league contract. He is also attending Spring Training with the major league squad.

Moore returned to the majors for the 2021 season with the Philadelphia Phillies. However, his reunion with the sport's most competitive league wasn't particularly impressive, as he sported a 2-4 record and 6.29 ERA in 24 appearances. Yet, the new year offers a clean slate, so let's see if he can rebound from here.

Moore is remembered most for his superb 2013 season, as he had a 17-4 record and 3.29 ERA. He naturally was named an All-Star with this kind of dominance, but he has yet to replicate this form since. However, even if he can tap into a little bit of that magic from here, he could be a decent addition to Texas - whether that's in their rotation or bullpen.

In 205 career appearances between the Tampa Bay Rays, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and Phillies, Moore has a 56-60 record, 4.64 ERA, and 869 strikeouts.
