Rangers And Twins Complete Trade
The Texas Rangers have traded Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the Minnesota Twins for Mitch Garver and Ronny Henriquez.
Kiner-Falefa's name has been in the rumor mill since the team brought in both Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. Although there was some belief that he would be their third baseman, the team has opted to trade him instead. Now, the 26-year-old will be with the Twins.
In 158 games this past season with Texas, Kiner-Falefa had eight home runs, 53 RBIs, and a .271 batting average. Overall, it was another strong season for him, and he should end up being a nice addition to the Twins. He has a Gold Glove on his resume and also offers immense versatility. Besides being able to play shortstop and third base, he also has experience at catcher, too.
Speaking of catchers, the Rangers now have an interesting one in Garver. Texas will be hoping that Garver can regain his form from the 2019 campaign. In 93 games with the Twins that season, he had a very impressive 31 home runs, 67 RBIs, and a .273 batting average. Although he wasn't as dominant in 2021, he still had 13 home runs and 34 RBIs in 68 games.
Henriquez is a pitching prospect who is more of a project from here. In 21 appearances between Single-A+ and Double-A last season, he had a 5-7 record and 4.71 ERA.
