Philadelphia Phillies Sign Reliever

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Jeurys Familia to a one-year, $6 million contract. With that, he also could make an extra $1 million in incentives.

Familia is an experienced reliever who once again was solid during the 2021 season. In 65 appearances with the Mets, he had a 9-4 record, 3.94 ERA, and 72 strikeouts. If he can replicate this kind of stuff with the Phillies this season, he should be a nice addition to their bullpen.

In 499 career games between the Mets and Oakland Athletics, Familia has a 32-25 record, 3.28 ERA, and 527 strikeouts. With that, he also was an All-Star during the 2016 campaign.

Don't be surprised to see the Phillies make more moves from here. They are looking to get back into the playoffs after a disappointing 2021 campaign.
