Padres And Dodgers Complete Trade
The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded Matt Beaty to the San Diego Padres in exchange for prospect River Ryan.
Beaty was recently designated for assignment by the Dodgers, which certainly was surprising. He just completed a solid season with Los Angeles, where he had seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .270 batting average. However, that wasn't enough for him to keep his job with the major league club, and he will now be with the Padres because of it.
There is some risk with the Dodgers traded Beaty to the Padres. They of course as division rivals who could end up being close in the standings this time around.
Beaty will offer the Padres immense versatility too, as he is able to play in the outfield and first base. Therefore, he will have multiple ways to get into their lineup.
Nevertheless, this is a surprising trade, and it will be intriguing to see how it works out for both clubs.
