Orioles Sign 3 Players
The Baltimore Orioles have signed Buddy Baumann, Andres Angulo, and Wes Robertson to minor league contracts.
Out of the trio, Baumann is the most notable, as he is the only one with major league experience. He last pitched in the majors with the San Diego Padres and New York Mets back in 2018. In 38 career appearances between the two franchises, he has a 3-3 record, 5.58 ERA, and 35 strikeouts. With Baltimore not possessing the strongest of rosters, it will be interesting to see if he can secure himself a spot on it.
Angulo is a 24-year-old catcher who has yet to appear in the majors. He spent last season with Double-A Richmond. In 53 games with the team, he had four home runs, 18 RBIs, and a .209 batting average. There's a good chance that he will stay in the minor for the 2022 campaign. However, it's never bad to add depth at the catcher position.
Robertson, a relief pitcher, spent last season between Single-A and Double-A. He had his fair share of struggles, however, as he had a 1-2 record and 11.51 ERA in 24 appearances. He will be aiming to turn things around this upcoming season.
