Orioles All-Star Drawing Trade Interest

Even though the Baltimore Orioles muddled through the 2021 season pretty much in obscurity, a 30-HR, 30-SB season will still draw attention. Rival teams have been asking the Orioles about Cedric Mullins' availability, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal

The now-27-year-old had a monster breakout season last year, batting .291, with 30 home runs, 30 stolen bases and an .878 OPS. He made his first All-Star team, and he was, really, the only bright spot in a dismal Orioles season.

Mullins, who's revealed that he actually underwent serious abdominal surgery before last season, is a highly sought-after talent around baseball.

26-year-old Austin Hays, according to Rosenthal, is also garnering some trade interest from teams. The 4th year outfielder had a .769 OPS with 22 home runs.

A dismal 2021 for the Orioles

The Orioles lost 110 games, and finished in last place in a stacked American League East in 2021, 48 games back of the 1st-place Tampa Bay Rays.

They're clearly starting from the bottom, and although Mullins is under team control for four more seasons, they might be able to get a nice prospect haul for him.

But Rosenthal concludes that the Orioles will most likely "want to get a clearer picture of how their rebuilding plan is progressing before considering trades of their better players."
