Oakland Athletics Sign Pitcher

The Oakland Athletics have signed Austin Pruitt to a minor league contract. He will also be joining the team at Spring Training. 

Pruitt is a pitcher who could end up earning himself a spot on Oakland's major league roster. The 32-year-old has a decent amount of experience and pitched fairly well during the 2021 season, too. In six appearances between the Astros and Marlins, he sported a 0-1 record and 3.68 ERA. He found more success after joining Miami, however, as he had a solid 1.93 ERA but in only four games. 

When seeing as how Oakland is currently in the middle of a rebuild, he certainly has the potential to fight his way onto their roster. This is especially true if they continue to trade away their veterans. 

In 73 appearances between the Rays, Astros, and Marlins, Pruitt has a 12-9 record, 4.83 ERA, and 152 strikeouts. Let's see if he's able to build on these totals with Oakland.
