MLB Rumors: Yankees Preparing Long-Term Extension For Aaron Judge

The New York Yankees passed on offering multi-year, mega-money contracts to the likes of Freddie Freeman and Carlos Correa during free agency. But for Aaron Judge, one of their own, it appears that they're ready to break the bank.

Joel Sherman of The New York Post is reporting that "a source said that Brian Cashman and his staff are preparing a long-term presentation to be delivered to the Judge camp in the next week."

The 29-year-old Yankee superstar—who is in the final year of his contract—has already said that he won't negotiate an extension once the season begins (April 7th); at that point, he'll simply file for free agency once the offseason arrives.

Getting something done before the season starts "would be ideal"

"If we're able to talk and get something done in spring training before the season starts, that would be ideal, especially since this is an important year," Judge said last week. "We've got a lot of things to focus on during the course of the year, winning a division and winning a championship here in New York. I don't want contract talks or extensions and all that talk to be a distraction throughout the year. So, if we're able to agree to something here in the spring before we head up to New York, that's wonderful and it would be an honor. If not, we'll talk after the season."

Yankee followers, naturally, are hoping it's the former.
