MLB Rumors: Twins Pursuing Athletics Pitcher
The Minnesota Twins are not completely satisfied with their roster even after bringing in several new players including Carlos Correa. According to Marly Rivera, they are also engaging in trade talks with the Oakland Athletics regarding Frankie Montas.
The Twins already made one big addition to their pitching staff earlier this month, as they acquired Sonny Gray from the Reds. Montas also has the potential to be a high-impact pitcher for them, and one can tell that based on his 2021 stats. In 32 starts with the team, he had an 11-9 record to go along with a 3.37 ERA.
The A's have begun their fire sale, as they already have traded Matt Olson, Matt Chapman, and Chris Bassitt since the lockout was lifted. However, they are not done yet, as both Montas and Sean Manaea are expected to go next.
It will be intriguing to see if the Twins end up being the lucky team that ends up landing Montas.
