MLB Rumors: Surprising Leader In Chase For Kris Bryant
For a team that's been stripping itself of its star players over the past few years, it comes as a surprise that the current favorite to land free agent Kris Bryant is the Colorado Rockies.
Rockies are aggressively pursuing Kris Bryant. Talks are at ownership level. @Ken_Rosenthal and @nickgroke on it

The Rockies are said to be "aggressively pursuing" Bryant, and "talks are at an ownership level."
Colorado was said to have had interest in Bryant before the lockout as well, but now they have ramped it up to a new level.
The Rockies are desperate for an offensive boost, not something you've often heard over the years about the team based in the offence-boosting Coors Field, but their losses of Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story (the latter still pending), have left their lineup fairly bereft of power. The outfield, in particular, is a spot they're looking to beef up.
And if they fail to land Bryant, there are other big bats on their radar.
Source: #Rockies are serious in the pursuit of Kris Bryant but the net they are casting is a little wider than that. So count in Kyle Schwarber, count in Michael Conforto in effort to boost middle of the order. Front office, ownership are serious, but there's plenty competition.
