MLB Rumors: Nationals Get A Reunion With Veteran Starter
A full season off from the major leagues seems to have reinvigorated 38-year-old starter Anibal Sanchez. After a "showcase" workout in Florida on Saturday for several teams, Sanchez is heading back to the team he helped lead to the promised land.
The Washington Nationals have signed the right-hander to a minor league deal. After Saturday's showcase, it was reported that Sanchez looked good enough to get an offer from a team shortly afterwards. It now appears that team was the Nats.
In 2019, Sanchez posted an 11-8 record, along with a 3.85 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, to help lead the Nationals to the World Series championship. The shortened 2020 season didn't go as well however, as he got rocked to the tune of a 6.62 ERA.
According to reports, however, the rest in 2021 has served him well, as he's regained some lost velocity during his time away from the game.
