MLB Rumors: Dodgers Showing Interest in All-Star Right-hander

Other than bringing back their own (Clayton Kershaw, Chris Taylor), the Los Angeles Dodgers haven't made any huge transactions yet this offseason. YET, of course, being the operative word, as they appear to be first in line to nab Freddie Freeman away from the Atlanta Braves.

But aside from keeping Kershaw, LA is also looking to upgrade its starting rotation, and according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, they "showed interest" in Oakland A's starter Chris Bassitt before the lockout, and are undoubtedly revisiting those trade talks.

The Dodgers are still desperate for some veteran stability on the mound, what with Max Scherzer bolting for the New York Mets in free agency, and the whole Trevor Bauer situation still unsettled. The latter could still face discipline from the commissioner's office, in the form of a suspension.

Bassitt is 27-11 in the last three seasons

Bassitt is as steady as they come, a veteran right-hander who established himself as the ace of the A's staff in 2021. He went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA and 1.05 WHIP while striking out a batter per inning. In the last three seasons, he's 27-11 with an ERA in the low 3s. His season ended prematurely in '21 after a horrific incident in which he took a line drive to the face.

If the Dodgers are looking for a steady, driving force to add to the rotation, Bassitt fills the bill.
