MLB Rumors: Conforto Turned Down $100M+ Offer From Mets Last Year
As Michael Conforto struggles to find a fit in free agency, a report from Andy Martino of SNY says that the New York Mets offered their outfielder a 9-figure contract last spring.
Mets offered Michael Conforto a contract in the $100 million range last spring, and would have gone to about $120 MM, per sources.

Martino's sources even tell him that the Mets would have gone as high as about $120M.
Now, the 29-year-old is one of the last men standing in the 2022 free agent frenzy, and appears to be having trouble finding a contract offer that approaches that $100M barrier.
Conforto is coming off a down year in Queens, struggling first with injuries, and then a mediocre .729 OPS when he was able to play, 100 points below his career norm. His power dried up to just 14 home runs, again well below his established production of the previous several years.
There are still many teams out there that could use a proven left-handed hitter like Conforto, but it's beginning to look like he could be talked into signing a one-year "show me" contract to boost his value back up.
