MLB Rumors: 5 Teams Heavily Pursuing Seiya Suzuki
According to Jon Heyman, the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, and Chicago Cubs are pursuing Seiya Suzuki the most.
Suzuki took a bit of a gamble not signing before the lockout, but now that a deal has been finalized between the owners and players, it doesn't matter. He will now have the opportunity to pick his first-ever MLB home, and it's clear that interest in his services is extremely high.
Suzuki has been a complete superstar in Japan for many years now, but now he is ready to take his talents to North America. During his outstanding tenure with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, he had 182 home runs, 562 RBIs, and a .315 batting average. With that, he won six Best Nine Awards, five Central League Golden Glove Awards, and is a five-time All-Star. He also led the league in batting average and on-base percentage during the 2019 and 2021 seasons, too.
Needless to say, it's understandable why so many teams are trying to sign Suzuki. It will be interesting to see which one of these five land them. Perhaps an outside team could even be the lucky winners of the sweepstakes, too.
