Milwaukee Brewers Sign Pitcher
The Milwaukee Brewers have signed Jose Urena to a minor league contract.
Urena appeared in 26 games with the Detroit Tigers. In them, he sported a 4-8 record, 5.81 ERA, and 67 strikeouts. He saw time in Detroit's rotation and bullpen, but it was just a very rough season for the 30-year-old. He will now be aiming to bounce back and land himself a spot on Milwaukee's roster.
Urena comes with a decent amount of major league experience, as he has played seven straight seasons in the majors. In 168 appearances between the Miami Marlins and Tigers, he has a 36-54 record and 4.77 ERA. He has primarily been a starter throughout his career but has come out from the bullpen a decent amount of times, too.
Overall, there's nothing wrong with the Brewers taking a chance on Urena. If he impresses during Spring Training, he could land himself a spot on their roster. If not, he will give them a decent depth option when injuries arise.
