Mike Trout Learns On Twitter About Potential Position Change
It's been a while since managers have been able to communicate with players. So long, in fact, that the game's greatest player, Mike Trout, had to find out on Twitter that his manager is considering moving him off center field to a corner OF spot.
Mike Trout said he and Joe Maddon had a talk today about whether he should play CF. He said they’re “on the same page,” but added he prefers to play CF. Also said he found out about it on Twitter yesterday. #Angels

Here's the Tweet Trout saw over the weekend:
#Angels MGR Joe Maddon said he is considering moving Mike Trout from CF to corner OF spot. Brandon Marsh would probably be CF if that happens.

So at today's first day of spring training, Trout reacquainted himself with manager Joe Maddon, and they had a “lengthy conversation” about whether he should move off center. Trout says they're "on the same page" and that he prefers to play CF for now.
The thing is, Trout missed essentially the last five months of the season last year with a calf injury, and he's missed an extensive amount of time over the past few years to injuries. Anything the Angels can do to keep the 30-year-old superstar on the field would be beneficial. Would playing one of the corner OF positions help alleviate some of the demand on his body?
“I could see down the road possibly moving to a corner,” said Trout today. Just not right now.
Fingers crossed we get to see the greatest player of our generation play a full season for the first time since 2016.
