Mets Add To Outfield Depth

The New York Mets have added to their outfield depth, as they have signed Travis Jankowski to a minor league contract.

Although this is a minor league deal, there is reason to believe that Jankowski could earn himself a spot on the Mets' major league roster. In 76 games last season with the Philadelphia Phillies, he had one home run, 10 RBIs, and a .252 batting average. With numbers like these, he certainly could be an option to be one of the team's extra outfielders.

Jankowski also comes with a decent amount of major league experience, too. In 426 games between the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, and Phillies, he has nine home runs, 52 RBIs, and a .239 batting average. With that, he is also a threat on the base path, as he has 69 career stolen bases.

Overall, this is not necessarily a major move, but it is one to keep an eye on heading into the season. If Jankowski impresses at Spring Training, he should be playing with the Mets by opening day.
