Mariners Sign Veteran Pitcher
The Seattle Mariners have signed Sergio Romo to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Romo spent the 2021 season as a member of the Oakland Athletics. In 66 appearances, he had a 1-1 record, 4.67 ERA, and 60 strikeouts. Overall, it was a year of mixed results for the veteran, so he will be looking to be more consistent as a member of the Mariners from here.
Romo has a plethora of overall experience, so that certainly will make him a welcomed addition to Seattle's bullpen. In 798 career games between the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, and Athletics, Romo has a 42-35, 3.10 ERA, and 137 saves. With that, he is a three-time World Series champion and one-time All-Star.
Nevertheless, the Mariners are continuing to add to their roster as they aim to get back into the postseason for the first time since 2001.
