Mariners Sign Pitcher
The Seattle Mariners have signed Sal Romano to a minor league contract. With that, he will be joining the major league team at Spring Training.
Romano had himself a busy campaign in 2021, as he spent time with the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, and Milwaukee Brewers. Overall, it's fair to say he struggled in the bullpen, as he had a 0-2 record and 6.12 ERA in 19 appearances. Yet, the new year offers a chance to regroup, and now the 28-year-old will be looking to do just that.
When Romano began his career with the Reds back in 2017, he was utilized as a starter. However, he has not made a start since 2018 and likely will not be in the running to be one for Seattle. Yet, if he impresses at Spring Training, he could become a reliever for them.
In 88 appearances over five MLB seasons, Romano has a 15-21 record, 5.23 ERA, and 211 strikeouts.
