Giants Provide Updates On 2 Players
Although both Evan Longoria and Brandon Belt are currently dealing with injuries, they should be ready for the regular season, according to San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler.
Longoria is sidelined with tendinitis in his right index finger. Once the veteran third baseman is ready to go, he will be aiming to build off of his solid 2021 campaign. In 81 games, he had 13 home runs, 46 RBIs, and a .261 batting average. That was his best average since joining the Giants in 2018.
Belt is dealing with inflammation in his right knee. The Giants certainly want him to return to the lineup, as he is coming off of the best season of his career. In just 97 games, he set a career-high in home runs with 29, while also adding 59 RBIs and a .274 batting average.
Nevertheless, it's great to hear that both of these veterans should be good to go for the start of the season. It is essential to begin the year on the right foot, as the Giants are coming off of a league-best 107-55 record.
