Giants Infielder To Have Surgery
Evan Longoria is set to have surgery on his right index finger. Due to this, his finger will be immobilized for a minimum of 10 days.
With this development, the San Francisco Giants are now likely to be without Longoria for the start of the season. This certainly is discouraging, as there was plenty of optimism that the veteran infielder would be ready to go for it. However, it appears his finger injury has worsened since the start of Spring Training.
In 81 games last season, Longoria had 13 home runs, 46 RBIs, and a .266 batting average. Overall, it was a solid year for the 36-year-old, so he will be aiming to build off it for the Giants once he is healthy. However, at this juncture, an estimated recovery time has yet to be determined.
Nevertheless, the Giants are starting the season shorthanded, and that is definitely not ideal. Let's see how the team responds without having Longoria in their lineup.
