Giants And Phillies Complete Trade
The San Francisco Giants have acquired Luke Williams from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for prospect Will Toffey.
Williams got into his first-ever MLB action last season with Philadelphia. In 58 games, the 25-year-old outfielder had one home run, six RBIs, and a .245 batting average. Overall, he had some decent moments during his rookie campaign, but he will now be aiming to build off it as a member of the Giants.
Williams will offer the Giants more much-needed depth. He is a solid bench player to have, as he is not only capable of playing in the outfield, but he also has experience at second base. Thus, he will offer plenty of options when called upon by San Francisco.
Toffey will now be aiming to land himself a spot on Philadelphia's major league roster. The 27-year-old played in 65 minor league games last season, where he had eight home runs, 24 RBIs, and a .217 batting average. He likely will start the season in the minors, but time will tell on that front.
