Free Agent Deal: Clayton Kershaw Heads Back Home

In the end, he just couldn't leave home. And while the city of Dallas, Texas is his birthplace, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been "home" for Clayton Kershaw for his entire 14-year career. He's now re-signed with the Dodgers on a one-year deal, pending a physical.

Speculation all throughout the day was that Kershaw was going to remain in Los Angeles, and that's proven to be the case.

Kershaw is a 3-time Cy Young Award winner and 2014 MVP, helping lead the Dodgers to 11 playoff appearances in his 14 years on the mound. He is the active major league career leader with a lifetime 2.49 ERA and an equally-sparkling WHIP of 1.00.

The 33-year-old was a free agent for the first time in his career this winter, although he's been recovering from a flexor tendon injury.

At one point, there was some speculation that Kershaw may choose to play out the end of his career in his hometown of Dallas with the Texas Rangers. But in the end, the chance to be on another playoff-bound team in his adopted home was too great to pass up.
