Freddie Freeman Chooses His New Home
The Freddie Freeman sweepstakes are officially over, as the superstar first baseman has signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
This was a hard offseason for the Dodgers. They lost Corey Seager and Max Scherzer to free agency, but now they have made up for it by adding this year's top free agent to this very big contract.
Freeman will be looking to build off of his amazing season with the Atlanta Braves last year. In 159 games with the team, he had 31 home runs, 83 RBIs, and a .300 batting average. This was immediately following his 2020 MVP season, so it's rather clear that the Dodgers are getting a game-changing player to their roster.
It will be weird to see Freeman for a new club, but after the Braves acquired Matt Olson from the A's, it was clear that this was going to occur. Now, we know the winner of the sweepstakes is the Dodgers. All of a sudden, they look ready to go on another World Series run.
