Dodgers Sign Veteran Third Baseman

The Los Angeles Dodgers have added a little depth to the organization, signing 8-year major league veteran Jake Lamb to a minor league deal. The 31-year-old can play both corner infield positions, as well as a bit in the outfield.

Lamb was an All-Star in 2017, blasting 30 home runs with 105 RBIs for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the team that he spent the first 6 1/2 years of his career with.

But shoulder surgery in 2018 seems to have derailed that promising career trajectory, as he's only been able to play in an average of 55 games a season over the past four years. And when he has been able to play, it's been a disaster for him.

After holding down an average of about .250 through his All-Star campaign with an OPS in the .800s, he's hasn't been able to bat even .200 in the past three seasons.

There's still a bit of pop in his bat though, and he'll get a non-roster invite to spring training.
