Diamondbacks And Cubs Strike A Deal
The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired Sergio Alcantara from the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations.
Alcantara appeared in 89 games with Chicago last season, where he had five home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .205 batting average. It wasn't the greatest of campaigns for the 25-year-old, but he will now be aiming to have a stronger year with the Diamondbacks from here.
Alcantara has the potential to be a good depth player for Arizona, as he is capable of playing shortstop, second base, and third base. With this, he offers a strong degree of versatility, and that's something teams are always happy to have with their players.
In 99 career games between the Detroit Tigers and Cubs, Alcantara has six home runs, 18 RBIs, and a .199 batting average. Assuming he makes Arizona's major league roster this campaign, they will be his third team in three MLB seasons. Thus, he will be looking to impress to find himself a long-term home in Arizona.
