Detroit Tigers Sign Veteran Starter
The Detroit Tigers have signed Michael Pineda to a one-year, $5.5 million contract. With that, he also can make up to $2.5 million of incentives.
Pineda had himself another solid campaign with the Minnesota Twins last year. In 22 appearances, he sported a 9-8 record, 3.62 ERA, and 88 strikeouts. If he can replicate this form in 2022, he could be a decent addition to the middle of the Tigers' rotation.
Pineda comes with a decent amount of overall experience, too. In 170 career games between the Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, and Twins, he has a 62-54 record and 3.98 ERA. With that, he even was an All-Star as a rookie back in 2011.
The Tigers have been putting together a very busy offseason. They are looking to get back into the playoff race, so we will have to wait and see if adding Pineda helps with that.
