Colorado Rockies Sign Shortstop
The Colorado Rockies are staying busy, as they have signed Jose Iglesias to a one-year, $5 million contract.
This signing is a clear indicator that Trevor Story will not be returning to the Rockies. Iglesias is set to become the team's new starting shortstop, and although he isn't a star like Story, he is still a decent option.
In 137 games last season between the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox, Iglesias had nine home runs, 48 RBIs, and a .271 batting average. Those are solid numbers, but it's also important to note that the 32-year-old thrived after joining the Red Sox, as he sported an impressive .356 batting average after the move. Thus, he is joining Colorado while hot.
Iglesias also comes with a lot of overall experience. In 978 games between the Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, and Angels, he has 44 home runs, 319 RBIs, and a .277 batting average. With that, he is a one-time All-Star.
