Colorado Rockies Sign Outfielder
The Colorado Rockies are taking a chance on a veteran outfielder, as they have signed Scott Schebler to a minor league contract. He also will be attending Spring Training with the major league squad.
Schebler played in just 14 games last season with the Los Angeles Angels, where he had five hits in 34 at-bats. With that, he had 17 strikeouts, so it's fair to say that he struggled. However, the new season will offer him a fresh start, so let's see if he's able to rebound and make the team.
Schebler has shown in the past that he can be an effective power hitter, and that could present itself again with the Rockies. Coors Field is known for being a power hitter's paradise, and the 31-year-old just so happened to have 30 home runs during the 2017 campaign.
In 394 career games between the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, and Angels, Schebler has 61 home runs, 167 RBIs, and a .237 batting average. Time will tell if he is able to build on these numbers with the Rockies from here.
