Cleveland Guardians Sign Reliever
The Cleveland Guardians have signed Jake Jewell to a minor league deal.
Jewell will be aiming to make Cleveland's roster out of Spring Training. The 2021 season was not a particularly impressive one for the 28-year-old reliever, as he sported a 9.90 ERA in 10 appearances. Yet, the new year offers a clean slate, so he will be looking to bounce back with the Guardians.
Jewell did have some success in Triple-A this past season, however. In 33 appearances, he had a 2-1 record, 3.40 ERA, and 50 strikeouts. With totals like that, it's fair to say that he was reliable. Now, it is just a matter of him carrying that over to the majors.
In 31 career games between the Los Angeles Angels and Chicago Cubs, Jewell has a 0-3 record and 7.75 ERA.
