Chicago Cubs Sign Pitcher
The Chicago Cubs have signed Steven Brault to a major league contract.
Brault's 2021 season was a short one for the 29-year-old, as he only appeared in seven contests with the Pirates. During them, he sported a 0-3 record, 5.86 ERA, and 19 strikeouts. Overall, it was a disappointing year for him, but he will now be looking to bounce back with the Cubs.
There certainly is hope that Brault can do just that. During the shortened 2020 season, he pitched well. Although he had a losing 1-3 record, he also sported a solid 3.38 ERA. If he can pitch like that again with the Cubs, this could be a good under-the-radar signing.
In 107 career appearances, with 52 of them being starts, Brault has a 12-18 record and 4.77 ERA. With this being a major league contract, it will be interesting to see if he is a starter or reliever for them.
