Chicago Cubs Bring Back Relief Pitcher
The Chicago Cubs are bringing back a familiar face to help fortify their bullpen. As he seemed to announce himself on his Instagram, reliever Jesse Chavez has signed on with the Cubs once again.

As noted by Greg Zumach, Chavez rejuvenated his career at the age of 37 last year with the Atlanta Braves, refining his cutter and sinker that brought his stuff to a new level.
Jesse Chavez brings back 2018 memories, but his repertoire took a massive jump forward last year. He made improvements to his cutter and sinker, which led to a dominant stretch at age 37. His cutter held opponents to an amazing .271 wOBA and his sinker an even crazier .149 wOBA. https://t.co/eJhmiFYklF

Chavez finished the 2021 season with a 2.14 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 9.6 K/9 with the Braves. But he was even better in his last stint with the Cubbies, in the 2nd half of 2018. In 39 innings, he pitched to a 1.15 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and registered four saves.
He got into 7.1 innings for the Braves in the post-season in '21, keeping a clean 0.00 ERA.
A nice right-handed option out of the bullpen for the Cubs.
