Blue Jays Sign Pitcher
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Yusei Kikuchi to a three-year, $36 million contract.
Kikuchi had himself an interesting season in 2021. Although he was named to his first-ever All-Star Game, he also struggled mightily during the second half. As a result of this, he finished with a 7-9 record and 4.41 ERA.
However, when seeing as how Kikuchi pitched like a star during the first half of the season, there is reason to believe he can bounce back in 2022. If he does, his contract could become a steal for Toronto, so this is the kind of gamble worth taking.
In 70 appearances over three seasons with the Seattle Mariners, Kikuchi has a 15-24 record, 4.97 ERA, and 326 strikeouts. It will be interesting to see how he performs from here with his new team.
