Blue Jays Sign Pitcher
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Joe Biagini to a minor league contract.
Biagini appeared in one game for the Chicago Cubs this season, where he recorded a win and did not allow a single run. However, although he pitched well during his three innings this season, he did not pitch again in the majors in 2021.
Yet, one has to wonder if Biagini could get himself a place in Toronto's bullpen for the 2022 campaign. He began his career with the organization, so it doesn't hurt that he is a familiar face.
Furthermore, he does have a lot of overall experience at the major league level. In 222 appearances between the Blue Jays, Houston Astros, and Cubs, he has a 15-25 record, 5.03 ERA, and 278 strikeouts. Although he had did have some struggles in the majors, he could rebound if given the chance.
It will be interesting to see if Biagini is able to earn himself a spot with the Blue Jays from here. If not, he will at least provide them with a bit more pitching depth.
