Atlanta Braves Sign Pitcher
After being released by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, Seth Elledge was able to find a new team immediately. The 25-year-old pitcher has agreed to a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves.
Elledge appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals last season. In them, he sported a 0-0 record, 4.63 ERA, and 25 strikeouts. Overall, he had some okay moments, but it wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on the team's roster. Thus, Atlanta will now be taking a chance on him.
It seems likely that Elledge will begin the season in the minors. Last year wasn't the best of showings for him with Triple-A Memphis, as he had a 2-2 record and a very high 6.56 ERA. Thus, he will be aiming to bounce back in 2022.
In 23 career games with St. Louis, Elledge has a 1-0 record and 4.63 ERA. It will be intriguing to see if he has the chance to build on these numbers with the Braves this season.
