Athletics Sign Veteran Catcher
The Oakland Athletics have signed Stephen Vogt to a major league contract.
Vogt spent the 2021 season between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves. In 78 games, the 37-year-old had seven home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .195 batting average. Overall, it wasn't the strongest of showings for the veteran, but he will now be looking to bounce back from here.
This is also a reunion between the A's and Vogt, as the longtime catcher had his best days in the majors with them. In fact, he even made back-to-back All-Star Games in 2015 and 2016 with Oakland. Thus, there should be some excitement amongst fans that they are getting a familiar face back.
In 724 career games between the Tampa Bay Rays, A's, Milwaukee Brewers, Diamondbacks, and Braves, Vogt has 75 home runs, 290 RBIs, and a .244 batting average.
