Athletics Bring Back Veteran Infielder
The Oakland Athletics have signed Jed Lowrie to a one-year contract.
With this move, Lowrie will be playing in his seventh season with Oakland over three different tenures. The 37-year-old always seems to find himself back with the A's, as the organization clearly has a high degree of respect for the infielder.
In 139 games with Oakland last season, Lowrie had 14 home runs, 69 RBIs, and a .245 batting average. Overall, it was a year of mixed results for him, but he certainly had some solid moments in the process. He will once again provide them with a veteran in their infield and decent offensive numbers.
In 1,257 career games between the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, New York Mets, and Athletics, Lowrie has 118 home runs, 578 RBIs, and a .260 batting average.
