Angels Bring Back Veteran Catcher

The Los Angeles Angels have signed Kurt Suzuki to a one-year, $1.75 million contract.

Suzuki spent the 2021 season with the Angels and worked well in his role. In 72 games with the team, he had six home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .224 batting average. Although he wasn't dominant at the plate, he proved to be a solid veteran to have - hence why the team has decided to bring him back.

Suzuki comes with a lot of overall experience, and that shouldn't be overlooked. In 1,584 career games between the Oakland Athletics, Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, and Angels, he has 139 home runs, 715 RBIs, and a .257 batting average. The 38-year-old also is a one-time All-Star and World Series champion, too.

Suzuki will likely serve as a backup option behind the plate for the Angels this upcoming season. Let's see how the veteran performs in 2022.
