Seattle Mariners Sign Pitcher
The Seattle Mariners have signed Asher Wojciechowski to a minor league contract.
This is a reunion of sorts, as Wojciechowski signed a minor league contract with the Mariners back in July but was never called up to the majors. This time around, he will be aiming to change that and make his debut with the team.
Wojciechowski has made major league appearances in each of the last three seasons and has pitched in five total seasons. Last season, he only started one game in the majors with the New York Yankees, however. During that start, he went four innings, where he allowed two runs on three hits.
In 58 career major league games between the Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, and Yankees, he has a 9-15 record, 5.93 ERA, and 195 strikeouts. With the Mariners, he will be hoping to build on those numbers.
Wojciechowski is primarily a starter but can be used as a reliever as well. Yet, his best chance to make the majors again may be if he goes for the latter. Alas, let's see what ends up occurring on that front.
