MLB Rumors: Rays Could Trade Outfielder

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Tampa Bay Rays could trade outfielder Manuel Margot once the lockout is over.

The Rays have become famous for trading away players, as they are a low-budget team. Yet, even with this being the case, they have been able to stay very good over the last few years. Other key players are currently in the rumor mill, as both Austin Meadows and Kevin Kiermaier could also be traded once the lockout is over, too.

It is understandable as to why Margot may be on the table now, too. His contract expires after the 2022 season, and he will be eligible for unrestricted free agency from there. Therefore, it seems rather possible that we could see him moved before the start of the campaign.

In 125 games last season, Margot had 10 home runs, 57 RBIs, and a .254 batting average. He certainly is a solid option for a team looking to acquire an upgrade at center field. It will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old gets moved from here.
