MLB Rumors: Rangers Interested In Athletics Star

According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the Texas Rangers are expected to pursue Oakland Athletics star Matt Olson once the lockout is over.

The Athletics have made it known that they are ready to rebuild and are open to trading away their veterans. Olson's trade value just so happens to be at its highest at this juncture, as he just had a career-best season. In 156 games, he had 39 home runs, 111 RBIs, and a .271 batting average. With that, he also was named to his first-ever All-Star Game.

Unlike the Athletics, the Rangers are trying to add a lot of talent to their roster and get themselves back into the playoffs. Before the lockout, they signed Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Jon Gray, and Kole Calhoun. Yet, this is expected to only be the beginning for them, and now Olson could be a player we see in Texas for the 2022 campaign.

It will be interesting to see if the Athletics are okay with the idea of trading Olson to a division rival. With Oakland embracing a full-on rebuild, it doesn't seem too out of the question, but time will tell on that front.
