MLB Rumors: 3 Teams Favorites to Sign Kevin Pillar
"Superman: Kevin Pillar became a household name for the Toronto Blue Jays several years ago when he started making absolutely dynamite catches in the outfield. Pillar spent several seasons in Toronto and has since played for the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, and most recently with the New York Mets. The spider web of a glove now finds himself without a contract and here's three teams favorites to sign the 33-year-old veteran:
Los Angles Angels
The California product would love to find himself once again playing on the west coast and the Angels could be the perfect fit. The team lost long-time veteran Kole Calhoun to the Texas Rangers and Pillar could fill in nicely for the team in left field. He also has a ton of experience in center which could help the team give Mike Trout some days off without losing anything in the field. Pillar won't cost a ton to sign so this could be a great fit a team looking for more pitching and outfield depth.
Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are open for business and looking for more free agents to fill out their roster. The team has already brought in outfielder Clint Frazier from the New York Yankees and are open to adding a couple more pieces to create internal competition come spring training.
Pillar and newly signed Cub Marcus Stroman are very close friends and you can bet the 'Stro Show' is vouching for his buddy's next contract.
Atlanta Braves
Braves' senior leadership team is very familiar with Pillar from their days in Toronto together and could see him as a fit for their ball club. His ability to play all three outfield positions goes a long way for the Braves and while he won't hit fourth in the order his bat has been underrated in the past. He's a career .260 hitter who has shown recently with his stint in Colorado that he can carry his average over .300. Pillar is going to have a ton of interest and the Braves should be considered a dark horse in the race.
