MLB Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Nelson Cruz

When looking at the remaining free agents, it's hard to find a player who possesses as much power as Nelson Cruz. As a result of this, there should be a number of teams looking to sign the 41-year-old once the lockout is over. The designated hitter had 32 home runs, 86 RBIs, and a .265 batting average last season between the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays. Thus, even with his older age, he is still very effective and hasn't shown too many signs of slowing down.

Here are three potential landing spots for the veteran.

Milwaukee Brewers: If the DH Rule officially moves over to the National League, there is no question that the Milwaukee Brewers could use a player like Cruz for it. Although they finished last season with a 95-67 record, they could use a game-changing power bat in their lineup. It's something that they are lacking at this juncture, so perhaps Cruz can be the player who changes that.

Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays could benefit immensely adding another power hitter to their lineup. They did express interest in Cruz at the trade deadline, so it's easy to predict that they could again once the lockout is over. With the Rays, Boston Red Sox, and New York Yankees in their division, they should look to make at least one more big signing before the start of the regular season. It will help their chances of making the playoffs.

Chicago White Sox: The White Sox had question marks at the DH position this past season and could use a player who will be a lock for it. Cruz has proven that he can consistently be a home run threat at the plate. Adding Cruz to their already strong offense could truly help them take that next step as a playoff team. The potential to win a World Series in the near future is there, so why not try to make a big splash and sign Cruz?
