MLB Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Eddie Rosario
After a disappointing start to the season, Eddie Rosario boosted his earning power by untold millions with his postseason performance last year. Taking an NLCS MVP Award into contract negotiations certainly can't hurt.
After a number of strong seasons in the Minnesota Twins outfield, the 29-year-old was cut loose after the 2020 season. He landed in Cleveland to start 2021, then was traded to Atlanta, where he helped lead the Braves to the World Series title, with a .903 OPS for them down the stretch, and then his masterful NLCS, batting .560 with 3 HR and 9 RBI.
However, with the Braves getting both Ronald Acuna Jr. and likely Marcell Ozuna back this season, along with Adam Duvall being under team control, Rosario's days in Atlanta could very well be over.
These two teams should be front of the line for Rosario's services in 2022.
Philadelphia Phillies
If you check out the Phillies' depth chart in the outfield, you'll find only Bryce Harper listed, along with a rookie named Matt Vierling who had all of 71 at-bats in the majors. Last we checked, it takes three players to fill an outfield. While there are a few free agents who can play the outfield still available, the Phils could do worse than bringing in a reasonably-priced Rosario, who averaged an OPS of over .800 in his last four seasons in Minnesota.
Texas Rangers
After their signings of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien for a total of $500M, it's clear that the Rangers mean business. But their work isn't done yet. Their outfield is in need of some help, and while the top bats on the market, like a Nick Castellanos or Kris Bryant might be out of range after the aforementioned money already dropped on fortifying the infield, perhaps a more affordable option like Rosario could come in handy in left field.
Miami Marlins
Another team looking to fortify their outfield, the Marlins started down that path before the lockout by signing Avisail Garcia to a 4-year, $53M deal. The Fish are obviously ready to spend a little, and another mid-level free agent like Rosario could fit quite nicely in the Miami outfield.
